You've Got Mail

Yes, that's been my favorite phrase lately, as I sit in front of my computer anxiously awaiting a response from what was intended to be a simple online conversation with a mere stranger. Chatting back and fourth between silly blog comments, when suddenly, days later we started exchanging emails. But this guy was still a stranger, and I thought nothing more than the fact that we would just be online pals.

Who knew that months later, we would still be exchanging not only emails, but tweets and even Facebook comments as well. Yes, this seems like a typical relationship in the age of technology. But for me, it's a little bit more. I am, what this guy refers to me as a "Technotard." I'm terrible with computers. And sometimes it could take me days to respond to a simple email. But with this guy, I've suddenly found myself glued to my computer, staying up until the wee hours of the night chatting with him. Could it be that I'm actually, possibly, maybe, sort of into this guy? A guy that I've never even spoken to on the phone. A guy that I've never met. A guy that I only know of from one simple photo?

So even though I kind of had this thing for him, I never said a word. I thought that it would be weird to confess my internet "Thing" for him by writing him an email love letter or even blogging about him. And so we remained the best of email pals, just like it's always been. That was until I mentioned another guy, and he got a little bit weird. At first, I just thought maybe he had his man period or something. Maybe he was jealous. Or maybe, just maybe, he's kind of into me too.

I'm beginning to feel like Meg Ryan in "You've Got Mail." Drew Barrymore in "He's just Not That Into You." Or Jen Kucsak, in her own little internet "Whatever it's called."

To be continued...

I have a few on-line interests. But it just that, on-line. It is refreshing to know someone on an intellectual level, opposed to preconceived physical standards. In fact knowing people on line has given me new perspective. Hang in there.

Maybe it’s not him that you’re infatuated with. Maybe it’s your new found love of technology that has you feeling all swoony? Stranger things have happened. Besides, I kind of find gadgets sexy so maybe you aren’t far behind? Ok, that was super geeky of me to say! Pretend you didn’t hear that.

Anyway, you should probably meet him just to make sure he’s not some old perv. You can never be too sure these days.

Then bang him silly! Kidding, kind of.

PS (I love a continuation! Oh how the plot thickens.)

I'm not gonna lie, I wanna know where this goes. I'm familiar with this territory. Just watch out for those eventual crazed mantras that come after looking into the screen for too long: “Come on, baby…save my email…save me, baby…press save…don’t delete me…file me in your folder. Baby, come on….”

Or that could be just me...

Ha. Jen doesn't have a thing for me, but her Mom does!

Too bad I'm not a MILF hunter, huh?

Ugh. Relationships built online are the most confusing things in the world. I'm with ya there.
